CARSON, CA (January 28, 2024) – Friday night, a tragic two-vehicle crash on 405 Freeway near Main Street killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:24 p.m. on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near the weigh station between Avalon Boulevard and Main Street.

According to CHP Officer Sergio Garcia, a black sedan and a big rig collided for still unknown reasons. Then, the force of the crash wedged the sedan underneath the semi-trailer.

Moreover, responders pronounced one person, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the crash closed one lane of the northbound 405 Freeway but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
