Hermelinda Jimenez Killed, Passenger Injured in Vehicle Crash on Highway 41

 
Fresno, CA (December 5, 2020) – On Friday, 62-year-old Hermelinda Jimenez of Fresno died and a passenger was injured in a rollover crash on Highway 41 and Highway 99.
 
The fatal accident happened at about 3:10 P.M.
 
Witnesses said a woman on a grey GMC Envoy was driving recklessly and making multiple lane changes on southbound Highway 99.
 
As Jimenez transitioned to Highway 41, the vehicle swerved and fell off the embankment. It swerved to Highway 99 and struck a Toyota Prius.
 
The GMC rolled over at least three times.
 
Jimenez and the passenger inside the vehicle were thrown outside.
 
Authorities pronounced Jimenez dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the rescuers took the male passenger to the hospital with major injuries.
 
On the other hand, the Prius driver sustained minor injuries.
 
Traffic crews diverted the traffic on Southbound Highway 99 to southbound Highway 41.
 
Also, the CHP warned commuters of significant delays and backup in the area.
 
Police are investigating if the deceased was impaired.
