1 Person Dead After Crash on Interstate 5 in San Diego

San Diego, CA (April 25, 2024) -On Thursday night, one person died in a 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.

Authorities received reports of the collision just before 9 p.m., near the Cockleburr Road overpass.

CHP logs indicate that a sedan, traveling at high speeds in the southbound lanes, lost control and struck the semi-truck parked on the right side of the road. 

Smoke was visible following the crash, according to law enforcement.

Authorities reported at least one fatality resulting from the crash. 

No further details on other injuries or the events leading up to the crash were immediately available.
