LAGUNA BEACH, CA (January 29, 2023) – Saturday morning, Xueyuan Zhang died in a hit-and-run crash on South Coast Highway.

The deadly accident happened at around 2:50 a.m. at the 700 block of South Coast Highway.

According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, a vehicle struck a male pedestrian. Moreover, the crash happened as the man crossed the roadway outside a marked crosswalk. The vehicle then fled the scene after the collision.

Moreover, responding paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the incident closed South Coast Highway between Thalia and Legion Street.

Police said they did not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
