Ventura County Deputy Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on West Gonzales Road [Oxnard, CA]

Sheriff’s Deputy Hospitalized after Collision with Vehicle near North Oxnard Boulevard

 
OXNARD, CA (December 4, 2018) – A Ventura County sheriff’s deputy was injured early Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle crash on West Gonzales Road. The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed to the public.
 
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly after 4:00 AM. The deputy was responding to a pursuit involving a vehicle that did not yield for a traffic stop near South Rose Avenue and East Wooley Road.
 
As the officer approached the intersection near North Oxnard Boulevard, his car collided with another vehicle. The deputy suffered a leg injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the injured deputy had been released from the hospital as of 7:30 AM.
 
Meanwhile, the other driver, described as a man in his 70s, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. He remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the deputy was driving with his lights and sirens at the time of the incident. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
