Turlock Teen Dies after Two-Vehicle Crash on Angelus Street near West Avenue South

 
TURLOCK, CA (October 12, 2019) – A Turlock teen lost her life in a two-vehicle crash on Angelus Street, Saturday evening.
 
According to the Turlock Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:00 PM. A westbound vehicle had stopped for a two-way sign on Angelus Street. At the same time, an SUV was traveling down West Avenue South and did not have a stop sign.
 
The sedan then went through the intersection. There, the SUV crashed into the passenger side of the sedan.
 
Bystanders rendered aid to the 17-year-old sedan driver, who later regained consciousness at the scene. Her passenger, another 17-year-old girl, was pinned in the sedan and firefighters had to extricate her.
 
Emergency responders airlifted the victims to a local hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, the passenger, identified as Thaily Gutierrez, died a few hours after the incident. Meanwhile, the sedan driver remains in stable but serious condition.
 
The SUV driver, identified as an 18-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal crash. However, they believe that speed played a role in the incident.
