REDDING, CA (May 21, 2023) – Saturday morning, a startling plane crash at Redding Airport near Kent’s Meat & Groceries injured 1 person.
The incident happened before 9:00 a.m. at Redding Airport near Kent’s Meat & Groceries.
According to reports, a 1960 Cessna 210 with an engine out, planned to land on the runway. However, even before the pilot could land on an actual runway, the plane landed in the field south of Ken’s Market.
After the crash, the pilot managed to exit the aircraft with minor injuries.
“Somewhat soft landing, considering the individual was flying at about 7,000 feet above the Redding area when it experienced engine troubles and diverted to the Redding area and Redding municipal. Due to the crash, fire and rescue services were provided,” Redding Fire Captain John Houston said.
“Originally this plane is from 1960 and the first airport it was housed at was Redding,” Houston added. “So, it came back for the one last time.”
