1 Dead in Calexico Auto Accident on Interstate 8 near Anderholt Road

 
CALEXICO, CA (January 5, 2022) – Monday afternoon, a 75-year-old Sedona man died in a head-on crash on Interstate 8 near Anderholt Road.
 
The incident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. on Interstate 8 west of Anderholt Road.
 
According to reports, a 61-year-old Ocotillo man drove east on Interstate 8 near Anderholt Road. Then, his 2007 Chevrolet veered into the center divider and then drove across the westbound lanes of the freeway. Eventually, it crashed head-on with a westbound 2019 Lexus.
 
As a result, the 75-year-old Sedona male driver of the westbound car died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, his 78-year-old and 53-year-old female passengers from Sedona sustained major injuries. Also, the Chevy driver sustained major injuries. Thus, responders took three of them to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air.
 
The authorities confirmed that impairment didn’t play a role in the crash.
 
Also, the crash remains under active investigation.
