SAN JOSE, CA – Motorcyclist Hospitalized in Crash on 280 Freeway near Highway 87

Afternoon 3-Vehicle Collision on 280 Freeway in San Jose Sends Rider to Hospital

 
SAN JOSE, CA (April 10, 2019) – A motorcyclist was hospitalized following a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in San Jose.
 
The collision happened around 4:19 p.m. on southbound 280 Freeway, just South of Highway 87.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a van hit the motorcyclist, causing the rider to crash into a red Hyundai Elantra. The impact sent the rider on the ground, blocking the first lane.
 
San Jose firefighters along with paramedics responded to the scene and took the rider to Regional Medical Center with a complaint of pain.
 
The motorcycle was towed away from the crash site.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
 
When driving, it is important to be on the lookout for motorcycle riders. Always make sure it is safe by checking your side mirrors and blind spots before making a lane change. Scan the streets properly and keep your ears open for the sounds of any possible motorcycles nearby before turning at an intersection.
