Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 17 Injures Off-Duty Cop [Phoenix, AZ]

Phoenix, AZ (March 25, 2023) On Thursday evening, a pedestrian crash on Interstate 17 seriously injured an off-duty Phoenix PD sergeant.

Authorities say that the traffic accident happened at around 11 p.m. along I-17 near Northern Avenue.

Reports say that a vehicle struck the off-duty sergeant as he went back to his vehicle, after helping another motorist.

Officials say that the impact of the crash caused serious injuries to the off-duty officer. Police say that the injuries were serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was not showing signs of impairment.

DPS is investigating the pedestrian crash and have not released further details at this time.
