Rider Fatally Struck on 5 Freeway in San Ysidro Motorcycle Collision

 
SAN YSIDRO, CA (July 15, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning in a collision on the 5 Freeway, near Via De San Ysidro.
 
According to reports, the incident happened on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway around 3:26 a.m. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
 
Authorities also say a Chevrolet van and a motorcycle were involved in the accident. However, the events leading up to the collision are currently unclear at this time.
 
The rider was eventually located down on the roadway upon officers arrival. The victim was later pronounced dead as a result of the impact. However, their identity has not yet been released.
 
Furthermore, the surrounding area was also closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
 
Anyone with insight into this tragedy should call officials immediately. In the meantime, an investigation is still currently ongoing to determine further details.
