Zachary Monroe Leconte Arrested in Alarming 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 50 [El Dorado, CA]

5 People Hurt in El Dorado Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 50 near Sierra-At-Tahoe Road

EL DORADO, CA (April 25, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Zachary Monroe Leconte was arrested in an alarming three-vehicle crash on Highway 50.

The incident happened at around 1:00 p.m. on Highway 50, west of Sierra-At-Tahoe Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound 2012 Dodge van made an unsafe turn, lost control, veered into the eastbound lane, and collided with a 2015 Toyota RAV4 that rolled over into the south shoulder. Then, the Dodge continued traveling on the south shoulder and collided head-on with a 2013 Honda CR-V.

Authorities confirmed that the driver and passenger of the Toyota sustained minor injuries, while the driver and passenger of the Honda, both 19, sustained serious injuries, and were both transported to Barton Memorial Hospital along with the driver of the Dodge who sustained minor injuries.

Officers said that the Dodge driver, identified as 37-year-old Leconte, was arrested for one felony count of drunk driving and two felony counts of inflicting great bodily injury, with a bail set at $145,000.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
