Michael Forgues Dies Inside Big Rig on 5 Freeway Near Frazier Mountain Park Road

LEBEC, CA (December 30, 2019)—The driver who died inside his big rig on the 5 Freeway near Frazier Mountain Park Road Thursday has been identified.

Michael Jean Forgues, 51, passed away after his body had been found lifeless in the back of his big rig. The 2017 Freightliner had been parked on the snow-packed Grapevine just north of Frazier Mountain Park Road.

Around 8:25 a.m., a tow truck driver responded to the big rig that had been stopped on the 5 South Freeway. After that, the driver found the semi-truck operator unresponsively. The Kern County Fire Department subsequently pronounced him dead.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Forgues’ death appears to be consistent with a possible medical emergency. However, an ongoing investigation continues.
