Winthrop Motorcycle Crash Killed Megan Harris

 
Winthrop, WA (September 9, 2020) – On Sunday, 27-year-old Megan Harris of Auburn died, while her brother, 35-year-old Devin Harris of Seattle got injured in a motorcycle crash on Highway 20.
 
The accident happened at 7:15 p.m. on the east side of the North Cascades Highway in Winthrop.
 
Devin Harris was traveling eastbound on a 2007 Yamaha XV1900 attempting to pass a 2002 Acura driven by Brandon Kindred, 25, of Twisp.
 
The motorcycle attempted the pass just as Kindred, who was also driving eastbound, turned left into a turnout. Just then, the motorcycle struck the rear of the Acura.
 
Authorities pronounced Megan, Devin’s passenger, dead at the scene. On the other hand, paramedics airlifted Devin Harris to Central Washington Hospital. Investigating crews said both were wearing helmets.
 
Meanwhile, Kindred, the Acura driver, did not sustain any injuries.
 
Furthermore, Washington State Patrol said the motorcycle following too closely was the cause of the crash.
 
It was the second motorcycle passenger fatality of the weekend on Highway 20.
 
Friday night, a 77-year-old Rainier woman died when the motorcycle she was riding on crashed with a deer between Twisp and Okanogan.
