Jennifer Besser Dies in Suspected Collision in San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo, CA (November 24, 2022) – On Tuesday, the authorities located Matthew Chachere, 39, and Jennifer Besser, 36, both San Luis Obispo residents, dead on the 3400 block of Sacramento Drive.
SLOPD Captain Brian Amoroso says officers in the area Tuesday night discovered the bodies of two San Luis Obispo residents.
SLOPD Captain Brian Amoroso said they first received a report of a dead dog in the area then, they received a missing person’s report for Matthew Chachere and Jennifer Besser.
After reviewing photos, the authorities said a dispatcher was able to make the connection between the dog and the residents.
Police responded to the crash scene and discovered the bodies under heavy brush.
Officers are investigating whether a male driver who crashed into a bridge Monday night may have hit Chachere, Besser and their dog, knocking them into the creek that was not seen from the roadway.
Investigating officers say the driver was not suspected to be under the influence during the accident.
In the meantime, officers are investigating the traffic crash on Sacramento Drive.

Despite the additional safety features on newer vehicle models, California’s traffic accident rate continues to increase, rather than decrease.
The increasing crash rate reflects that auto accidents are becoming rampant. Incidents like the collision in San Luis Obispo are a leading cause of death for individuals ages 5-64.
