1 Person Killed in Sacramento Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101 and Clay Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (August 18, 2023) – Thursday morning, Marcus Winkfield died in a tragic head-on crash on Highway 101 and Clay Road.

The incident happened at around 5:20 a.m. on Highway 101 and Clay Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound Honda Civic veered across the solid double yellow lines and through a curve. Then, the Honda collided head-on with a westbound Dodge Ram.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the Honda driver, identified as 53-year-old Officer Marcus Winkfield, died in the crash. Also, the Dodge driver, a 35-year-old man, complained of pain but refused further treatment.

Furthermore, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information became available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
