S Nugent Road Collision Under Investigation

Lummi Island, WA (May 18, 2024) – Two people have been injured following a Lummi Island ferry dock collision Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said a van turned into the loading terminal on South Nugent Road and drove around a line of vehicles boarding the ferry. Afterward, the van drove through a sign and over a concrete curb and crashed onto the boulders that supported the terminal at the edge of the waterline.

Two people in the van were able to free themselves and were transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham with minor injuries.

The ferry dock sustained minor damage that should not affect the ferry service. 

Officers are investigating.
