1 Dead in Mount Vernon Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Highway 534

 
MOUNT VERNON, WA (November 13, 2020) – Thursday night, a man died in an alleged DUI accident on 5 Freeway near Highway 534.
 
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. when a Ford pickup broke down. This incident took place in one of the southbound lanes near the Highway 534 exit. Then, another driver approached from behind and crashed into the truck.
 
The force of the crash ejected the man from the disabled truck. He suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities arrested the driver that caused the collision. He was detained for suspicion of DUI and faces vehicular homicide charges.
 
Due to the collision, the authorities shut down all southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway for around two hours before it reopened.
