Kevin Suchoza and Yolanda Suchoza Injured in Head-On Collision on South Higuera Street [San Luis Obispo, CA]

San Luis Obispo, CA (May 10, 2023) – On Monday, 61-year-old Kevin Suchoza of Rancho Cucamonga and his 63-year-old wife, Yolanda Suchoza, were injured in a head-on collision on South Higuera Street.

The traffic accident took place at about 9 p.m. north of Clover Ridge Lane.

Investigating officers said 27-year-old Nichalas Hill of San Luis Obispo was northbound in his BMW 335i on South Higuera Street at a high rate of speed.

As he drove on a curve, his vehicle crossed double yellow lines into the southbound lane where Kevin Suchoza was driving his Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV.

Suchoza turned to the right but there was no way to prevent the head-on crash and the right front of Hill’s vehicle hit the right front of Suchoza’s vehicle.

Kevin Suchoza and Yolanda Suchoza were pinned in their vehicle. The paramedics freed the couple and transported them to area hospitals with major injuries. Kevin Suchoza was transported to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo and  Yolanda Suchoza was at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

Hill was treated for minor injuries. The authorities arrested and booked him into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants. His passenger was also taken to Sierra Vista with major injuries.

Apparently, Hill was no longer in jail custody Tuesday morning.
