Julian Gutierrez and Others Injured in Highway 12 Rear-End Crash [Walla Walla County, WA]

Walla Walla County, WA (November 08, 2021) – On Saturday, 47-year-old Julian Gutierrez of Hermiston, and his passenger, Francis Kontur, 85-year-old also from Hermiston, suffered injuries in a Highway 12 crash.

It was about 10:23 a.m. when the collision happened east of Wallula Junction.

Officers said 62-year-old Kaziputalimba Joshua of Walla Walla, was westbound in a 2004 Honda Pilot.  

Joshua stopped in the roadway and started to back up.

However, a 1998 Dodge R35 driven by Gutierrez rear-ended Joshua’s vehicle at milepost 310.

Rescuers took Kontur via ambulance to St. Mary, and they took Gutierrez to the medical center by private transport.

Similarly, Joshua and his passenger, Stephen Hammond, 65-year-old from Sterling, VA. suffered injuries. Rescuers took them to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

Moreover, the authorities cited Joshua for improper backing. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in this vehicle collision.
