Jeanette Baker of Vancouver Killed in Rear-End Collision on Highway 14 [Vancouver, WA]

Vancouver Fatal Crash Injures Several

Vancouver, WA (April 27, 2023) – On April 20, Jeanette Baker, 87, of Vancouver, died, and several others were injured in a rear-end collision on Highway 14.

The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash at 9:45 p.m. at Milepost 8.

Investigators said a Jeep Liberty driven by Johnny Kienbaum, 38, of Kelso, was stopped in the left lane after it ran out of gas. 

At the same time, a Toyota Camry driven by Marguerite Brooks, 79, of Vancouver, rear-ended the Jeep.

Brooks and her four passengers were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. 

The passengers were Jeanette Baker, 87, of Vancouver; Sandra Taylor, 87, no city of residence listed; Helen Keller, 81, no city of residence listed; and Patricia Turner, 88, of Kennewick.

Unfortunately, Baker was declared dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Kienbaum and his passenger, Jayden Kienbaum, 15, did not suffer injuries from the collision.

Investigators said Johnny Kienbaum is facing a charge of second-degree negligence. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
