Genesse Avenue Traffic Accident Injures 44-Year-Old Male Pedestrian [San Diego, CA]

34-Year-Old Woman Involved in University City Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision

San Diego, CA (December 23, 2022) On Thursday morning, a traffic accident on Genesse Avenue sent a 44-year-old man to the hospital.

SDPD says that the vehicle-pedestrian collision happened at about 7:30 a.m. in an east crosswalk in University City.

Reports say that a 34-year-old woman driving a Toyota Prius made a right turn and struck the man on the crosswalk. Officials say that the Toyota was turning right from northbound Campus Point Drive.

Authorities say that female driver did not yield to the pedestrian and consequently hit the man. The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Paramedics transported the male patient to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the female driver stayed at the scene and was not showing signs of impairment at the time of the crash.

Furthermore, the SDPD’s Traffic Division is handling the investigation and are encouraging witnesses of the traffic accident to call SDPD at 619-531-2000 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

The epidemic of distracted driving has made it difficult to navigate California roadways in peace.

It is critical to follow all driving laws and the conditions of the road. These will keep us and everyone around us safe as we travel to our destination.

Meanwhile, according to the NHTSA, most pedestrian accidents are caused by poor visibility.

As pedestrians, wearing bright clothing, using the crosswalk, and using a flashlight at night are steps we can do to avoid accidents.

Sharing the road is a shared responsibility. It is important to keep an eye out for those who are on the road with you.
