FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – Man Found Dead after Struck by Car on 405 Freeway at Brookhurst Street

Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 405 Freeway in Fountain Valley

 
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (January 10, 2019) – A man was found dead after being struck Thursday evening on a busy freeway in Fountain Valley.
 
The incident was reported a little after 8:00 p.m. on southbound 405 Freeway, just North of Brookhurst Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue BMW 440i was traveling southbound on the freeway when it struck an adult male pedestrian in the carpool lane. The man reportedly left a Toyota Prius which was parked in the center divider of the freeway before he was struck.
 
Arriving units pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family members.
 
Multiple freeway lanes were closed while officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.
 
The driver who struck the pedestrian remained on scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
 
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. The incident is still under investigation.
