42-Year-Old Discovery Bay Woman Fatally Struck by Car in Bethel Island
BETHEL ISLAND, CA (December 7, 2019) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian crash Saturday night on a rural road in Bethel Island.
At around 6:35 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of an unresponsive woman on westbound Gateway Road, just west of Piper Road.
When they arrived, officers found the woman unresponsive on the side of the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the woman as 42-year-old Danielle Keller of Discovery Bay.
A few hours later, a 56-year-old Bethel Island man called the CHP and said he might have hit the woman with his vehicle. Officers went to his home and his gray 1994 Honda Accord had damage consistent with a pedestrian collision.
The man cooperated with investigators and impairment is not considered a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing. Authorities asked any witnesses to contact the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
We would like to share our comfort to the family and friends of Danielle Keller. At times like this, we hope they find peace and strength.
