Lakewood, CA (March 19, 2021) – On Friday, Christine Yan and Isabelle Zhang were killed in a deadly pedestrian accident on Bloomfield Avenue.
 
The fatal accident took place at the intersection of Lemming Street. Reports said the two women were killed in an area where there is no flashing lights or stoplights, only a painted crosswalk and signs.
 
Apparently, the two decided to take a quick walk to a family member’s house nearby.
 
However, they did not arrive so their relatives started to worry.
 
Zhang was a married woman and liked to play video games. She decided to come to the United States to study.
 
On the other hand, Yan loved baking and was known as a kind soul.
 
Meanwhile, the involved driver stopped and called for help when the accident happened.
 
Moreover, some people say the intersection is dangerous. They worry this could happen again.
 
So, a neighbor started a petition to make the City of Lakewood install a traffic signal or pedestrian warning device.
 
City leaders said they will conduct a traffic survey to figure out if any changes have to be made.
