Alma Garcia, Son Die in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident at Foothill Boulevard and 26th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (April 15, 2019) – A mother and her child are dead after a hit-and-run driver struck them at Foothill Boulevard and 26th Avenue Saturday night.
The fatal hit-and-run not only left two people dead but a man in critical condition.
Around 7:20 p.m., a black two-door Mercedes-Benz fatally struck Alma Garcia and her 6-year-old son. In addition, the boy’s 19-year-old uncle suffered critical injuries.
It appears all three were in a marked crosswalk when the driver struck them. The vehicle failed to render aid and was spotted fleeing from the collision site.
As a result of this devastating crash, authorities are pleading for any witnesses’ help in identifying the vehicle and driver. A husband is also left in despair, immensely missing his family, say reports.
A car has been identified but details surrounding whether anyone is in custody is unclear.
Our hearts break for the family and friends of Alma Garcia and her son. May their loved ones find strength and peace during this delicate time.
