61-Year-Old Man Killed in Highway 101 Accident [Pismo Beach, CA]

Pismo Beach, CA (August 25, 2023) – On Thursday night, a 61-year-old man was killed and a female driver sustained injuries following a Highway 101 accident.

The fatal accident took place minutes before 10:15 p.m. north of Five Cities Drive.

CHP officers said a 23-year-old Carpinteria woman was southbound on the highway when a 61-year-old man tried crossing eastbound, directly into the path of her vehicle.

The authorities said it appears that the man was trying to run to the center median.

The female driver was unable to avoid the man and struck him. 

CHP officers said the pedestrian’s injuries were fatal. The woman sustained injuries were described as major. Her vehicle sustained major damage.

Officers are investigating.
