2 Killed and 1 Hurt in Humboldt Car Accident on Highway 299
HUMBOLDT, CA (September 22, 2019) – Two people died while another sustained injuries in a car accident on Highway 299 on September 18.
The Humboldt Area CHP received reports of the two-vehicle crash around 11:45 a.m. Emergency personnel came to the scene and found a westbound 2010 Chevrolet armored truck had crashed with an eastbound Mazda Sedan.
The accident killed the Mazda’s driver and passenger.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Bradley Huss of Redding, the armored truck driver, sustained minor injuries.
The Humboldt County Coroner’s office withheld the identities of the deceased foreign nationals due to pending family notification.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Mazda driver heading east on Highway 299 drove at an unsafe speed for the wet weather conditions. The driver then lost control, veered into the westbound lane and the armored truck hit it.
Authorities ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
Meanwhile, the CHP Humboldt Area office is still investigating the crash and encourages anyone who has information to call the Humboldt Area CHP Office at 707-822-5981 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
