1 Hurt in San Diego Car Collision on 5 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 28, 2020) – A person sustained injuries in a car collision on 5 Freeway on February 26.
 
The two-car collision in the Southcrest area seriously injured one person.
 
California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt revealed that they first received reports of the crash between a BMW sedan and a Toyota Prius shortly before 9:45 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway, south of 15 Freeway.
 
Bettencourt added that a witness stated that the BMW was speeding following the collision. However, the authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
 
As a result, two occupants in the Prius sustained injuries. One was transported to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, the officer stated.
 
The authorities also issued a SigAlert after 9:50 a.m. and advised motorists that the far left lane will be closed for an unknown duration.
