Elderly Pedestrian Hurt in Santa Clara Pedestrian Crash

 
SANTA CLARA, CA (February 10, 2020) — A woman suffered significant injuries Saturday night following a pedestrian crash on Cabrillo Avenue and Calabazas Boulevard.
 
According to the Santa Clara Police, a westbound Toyota sedan struck a female pedestrian on Cabrillo Avenue around 4:40 p.m. Dispatchers arrived shortly after.
 
The woman sustained major but non-life-threatening as a result of the impact. Responders later transported her to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Her current condition is unknown.
 
Officers did not release the identities of those involved. However, witnesses described the pedestrian as an elderly female. Moreover, the driver of the vehicle that struck her stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash. The driver might have been blinded by the sunset, according to police.
 
The surrounding area on Cabrillo Avenue was closed down during the initial investigation. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
