VALLEY CENTER, CA – 3 Dead, 1 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Valley Center Road Near Lilac Road

Authorities Investigate Triple Fatality Collision in Valley Center

 
VALLEY CENTER, CA (February 13, 2019) – A Tuesday morning crash between a tow truck and a pickup truck resulted in the deaths of three men on Valley Center Road near Lilac Road.
 
The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. between North Lake Wohlford Road and Paradise Creek Lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe reported.
 
Per Latulippe, the tow truck was traveling northbound on Valley Center Road while the Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on Valley Center Road. For unexplained reasons, the driver in the Ford crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the tow truck head-on at speeds of about 55 mph.
 
Three men inside the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene including one whom investigators did not immediately see due to how severe the wreckage was. A fourth man who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the pickup truck left the scene to see a relative because he did not have a phone. He was the only one who was wearing his seatbelt at the time.
 
The unidentified fatal victims were between the ages of 25 and 45 years old. The tow truck driver suffered minor injuries and was brought to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
 
Authorities found beer cans and bottles that spilled inside the heavily damaged pickup truck, but it is unclear whether intoxication or speed played a factor. Valley Center Road was shut down in both directions and reopened just before 1:30 p.m.
 
An investigation at this deadly crash is underway.
