CHP Investigates Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass

Cajon Pass, CA (November 28, 2024) – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a pedestrian died early Thursday morning after a crash on Interstate 15.

The CHP Communications Center received reports of the crash at 2:03 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2024. The incident occurred on southbound Interstate 15, about two miles past the Cleghorn Road exit.

Initial reports described a collision involving a semi-truck and a white Ford Edge SUV. Shortly after, the situation was updated to indicate that the semi-truck had struck a pedestrian in the slow lane.

When CHP officers and the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived, they found the semi-truck blocking the slow lane, the pedestrian lying on the ground, and the Ford Edge parked on the freeway’s right shoulder.

Rescue personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet determined why the pedestrian was on the freeway. 

The incident remains under investigation by the CHP Inland Office, and additional details will be provided once the preliminary accident report is released.
