1 Person Dead in Hanford Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 198 near 12th Avenue

HANFORD, CA (December 5, 2023) – Sunday morning, a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Highway 198 near 12th Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 1:50 a.m. on eastbound Highway 198, east of 12th Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2016 Toyota Corolla that was traveling in the wrong direction on eastbound Highway 198 collided head-on with an eastbound 2002 Ford F-250. Then, the force of the crash overturned the Ford and landed in front of a 2015 Kia Soul. Also, the Kia struck the Ford while the Toyota erupted into flames after the initial crash.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 24-year-old male driver of the Toyota, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted the driver of the Ford to a local hospital with major injuries.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that two passengers of the Ford sustained minor and moderate injuries, while two occupants of the Kia sustained minor injuries in the incident. All four people were taken to a hospital for treatment.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
