Nicholas Yager Arrested in North Big Spring Street Fatal Crash
Midland, TX (March 10, 2023) – On March 8, 34-year-old Traci Lynn Klein sustained fatal injuries in a Mockingbird Lane DUI crash.
The Midland Police Department responded to the scene at around 9:50 p.m. at the intersection with North Big Spring Street.
According to the investigating officers, Traci Lynn Klein was driving an eastbound Toyota Highlander on Mockingbird and crossing North Big Spring Street.
At the same time, a Ford F-350 driven by 21-year-old Nicholas Yager was trying to make a left turn south onto North Big Spring Street from Mockingbird Lane. The Ford driver failed to yield the right of way and collided with Klein’s vehicle.
Immediately, the medical team rushed Klein to MMH where she succumbed to her crash injuries.
The responding officer said he smelled alcohol on Yager.
Yager spoke to the rescuers but declined to be transported even though he told the officers he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He also said that he was ejected from a window during the collision.
Later on, Yager confessed to the officer that he had a 32-ounce daiquiri at his friend’s house before driving and agreed to take both a field sobriety and blood draw test.
Moreover, the field sobriety test provided officers with several clues that Yager was drunk.
The authorities arrested Yager and charged him with intoxication manslaughter.
Officers are investigating the cause of the North Big Spring Street fatal crash.
