Multiple Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident at West Frostad Road and Highway 20
OAK HARBOR, WA (July 3, 2019) – A suspected DUI two-vehicle accident Saturday left one man dead and five people injured at West Frostad Road and Highway 20.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash involved a 2009 Jeep Wrangler SUV and a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.
The Wrangler, headed westbound on West Frostad Road, failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign and collided with Reed Hall‘s southbound Cherokee along Highway 20.
Due to the impact, 50-year-old Steven M. Parson was ejected from the Wrangler’s rear seat. According to a state patrol spokesperson, he died at the scene shortly after.
A 25-year-old passenger who was also riding with Steven—Jeffery T. Parson of Oak Harbor—required hospitalization at Island Hospital in Anacortes due to his injuries.
Hall, 53, of Oak Harbor suffered injuries and sought treatment at Whidbey Health Medical Center. Paramedics brought his two passengers from Oak Harbor—Ruby Hall, 50, and Tucker Hall, 16—to Whidbey Health Medical Center for their injuries.
Lastly, the 57-year-old Wrangler driver—Cindy L. Wilson—suffered injuries, as well, and received treatment at Island Hospital. However, police booked her into the Island County jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.
The State Patrol believes drugs or alcohol was a likely factor in the incident.
We’d like to take this moment to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Steven M. Parson during this difficult time.
