Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver After Crash on 87th Place in South Los Angeles

South Los Angeles, CA (November 14, 2024) – Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on 87th Place.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that a woman was struck by a vehicle shortly after midnight on Nov. 5 while walking in a marked crosswalk near 87th Place and Central Avenue. 

The driver continued traveling south on Central Avenue without stopping.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The city of Los Angeles offers a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the conviction of a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run case.

“Drivers involved in a collision must pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police reminded in a statement. 

They also urged motorcyclists to follow traffic laws and ride at safe speeds.
