Stephen McKnight Dies after a Head-On Crash with Semi on US 95 near Hawthorne
Hawthorne, CA (June 22, 2021) – Early Monday, a 39-year-old Stephen McKnight died in a head-on crash with a semi on US 95.
The deadly crash in Hawthorne happened at around 1:30 a.m. on June 21.
Police said a deputy was trying to pull McKnight over for speeding on SR 362. They said he wouldn’t stop and instead turned southbound onto US-95, then drove directly into the path of an oncoming semi.
McKnight died at the crash scene.
The driver of the semi sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Further investigation is ongoing.
