Six Hospitalized in Highway 20 Vehicle Collision [Mount Vernon, WA]

Mount Vernon, WA (May 15, 2022) – On Sunday afternoon, several people sustained injuries in a Highway 20 vehicle collision.

Officers say the incident took place before 2:30 p.m. at La Conner Whitney Road. 

 According to the investigators, a Ford Explorer struck a Ford XPL that had stopped at a red light.

Five occupants of the Ford XPL, two adults and three children, all from Oak Harbor, sustained injuries due to the collision.

Similarly, the Ford Explorer driver, a 39-year-old Bothell woman, also incurred injuries. 

Both of the vehicles rested in the westbound turn lane.

Immediately, the paramedics responded and rushed all six victims to Island Hospital in Anacortes with unknown injuries.

Officers say that the Ford Explorer driver faces charges of felon in possession of a firearm and violation of an ignition interlock requirement
