ORO GRANDE, CA (July 11, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, several people suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Route 66 near Robinson Ranch Road.
 
The incident involving a silver 4-door sedan and a gold 4-door sedan occurred at around 12:45 p.m. Moreover, it happened on Route 66 near Robinson Ranch Road/Polish Lane a.
 
When the San Bernardino County Fire came to the scene, they confirmed that one person was trapped in the wreckage. Also, there were two additional patients.
 
The firefighters used the jaws of life to free a female passenger of the gold sedan.
 
Meanwhile, witnesses said that the driver of the other vehicle escaped the crash scene. The driver left his injured male passenger.
 
On the other hand, firefighters called two helicopters to respond and airlifted two people to out-of-area trauma centers.
 
According to Jennete Schade, the causing driver drove under the influence of marijuana and unable to drive straight.
 
Another group member, Jeffrey Schade said he was the 3rd car back from the car that was hit and the driver wasn’t attempting to pass.
 
“He just went straight or the curved road rather than staying in his lane. The car smelled bad of weed and the driver of the silver car, (at fault) got out yelled he was ok then ran over the train tracks into the desert,” Jeffrey Schade said. Schade revealed that he was driving behind the car struck by the driver.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities closed National Trails Highway during the investigation.
 
The California Highway Patrol Victorville station spearheads the crash investigation.
