Santa Maria Man Dies in Interstate 15 Pedestrian Accident [Barstow, CA]

Fatal Traffic Collision South of East Main Street

Barstow, CA (November 22, 2022) – On Friday, a 33-year-old Santa Maria man lost his life in an Interstate 15 pedestrian accident.

The authorities received a report about a pedestrian wearing dark clothing walking within traffic lanes at 9:12 p.m. south of East Main Street. 

At the same time, a 64-year-old Dinuba man was driving a 2010 Dodge Challenger northbound on the freeway.

For reasons unknown, the Santa Maria man walked within the path of the Dodge and was hit by the vehicle.

Emergency medical provided life-saving measures as they transported the injured pedestrian to Barstow Community Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

In the meantime, CHP is investigating the fatal collision South of East Main Street.

It is still unknown if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the accident.
