Early Morning Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 101 in San Mateo, Injuries and Damage Reported

 
SAN MATEO, CA (March 22, 2019) – Two people were trapped following a traffic collision early Friday morning in San Mateo.
 
The collision happened around 2:17 a.m. on southbound Highway 101, just South of Hillsdale Boulevard off-ramp.
 
According to the CHP, a green Honda Odyssey collided with another vehicle, causing major rear-end damage and a broken rear axle on the Honda minivan. The other vehicle reportedly overturned and was sitting on top of a guardrail.
 
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found two occupants trapped inside a vehicle with injuries. The patients were taken to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
All lanes were shut down while evidence from the scene was collected and photographed.
 
Details surrounding the collision were not made clear in the reports. An ongoing investigation continues to determine the ultimate cause of the accident and liability.
