San Juana Benavides Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Ed Carey Drive [Harlingen, TX]

Harlingen, TX (April 28, 2023) – On Wednesday, 73-year-old San Juana Benavides lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Ed Carey Drive.

Police said the victim was struck by a red pickup truck while crossing on a crosswalk in front of Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was rushed to the hospital where she died.

Officers said the truck was making a left-hand turn from Pease Street when the accident happened.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Officers are still investigating.
