Stefan Michael Pfeiffer Dies in Foothill Boulevard Collision [Pasadena, CA]

Pasadena, CA (May 12, 2024) – Stefan Michael Pfeiffer, 20, a Pasadena City College student, Mohed Samuel, 22, and Esrom Fessemaye, were killed in a Foothill Boulevard collision early Saturday morning.

It was about 2:38 a.m. on May 11 when the Tesla Model driven by Mohed Samuel lost control and struck a curb. The Tesla was thrown into the air and struck two city light poles, a utility pole, and an unoccupied building in the 2300 block area. Consequently, an estimated 500 homes and businesses were left in the dark due to a power outage.

Responding officers declared Stefan Michael Pfeiffer, Esrom Fessemaye, and Mohed Samuel, deceased at the crash scene.

Samuel’s younger sister, along with another man and woman, were passengers in Tesla. They were rushed to an area hospital in critical but survivable condition.

Moreover, investigators said that there was evidence that alcohol may have played a role in the collision, though it’s too soon to say if the driver was impaired or if any of the occupants were under the influence. Officers believe that excessive speed contributed to the crash.

Investigators also plan to investigate if the Tesla’s autopilot feature was engaged then.
