Robert Catrini of Mission Hills Involved in Highway 99 Fatal Accident [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (November 26, 2022) – On Thursday night, Robert Catrini, 72, of Mission Hills, CA, was involved in a Highway 99 accident killing a male pedestrian.

It was about 8:51 p.m. when the fatal accident took place south of the California Avenue off-ramp.

According to CHP, they got a call about a man walking on the right shoulder near the traffic lanes on the northbound freeway.

Then, a few minutes later, they received a report that a vehicle had struck the man.

Investigators say Robert Catrini was driving a northbound 2015 Honda CRV on the freeway.

His vehicle got closer to the pedestrian standing in traffic lanes. Catrini was unable to react in time and his vehicle struck the pedestrian.

Unfortunately, the male pedestrian lost his life at the scene.

The authorities Catrini stopped and stayed at the scene. He did not incur injuries in the accident.

In the meantime, officers are investigating the accident south of the California Avenue off-ramp.

They say alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor with Catrini.

Though, they are still investigating if the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the Highway 99 accident.
