Richard Gutierrez Struck and Killed by Pickup Truck on Jardine Street [Commerce, CA]

Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck at Jardine Street and South Atlantic Boulevard

 
COMMERCE, CA (September 14, 2019) – Authorities identified 54-year-old Richard Gutierrez as the man killed after being struck by a pickup truck on Jardine Street, Saturday morning.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened near South Atlantic Boulevard, at about 7:45 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a pickup truck hit Gutierrez while he was in his wheelchair.
 
Emergency crews arrived and found the victim pinned under the pickup truck. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup, who was the victim’s friend, remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Investigators believe that the road work in the area may have contributed to the accident. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
