Ricardo Martinez Serrano Fatally Struck in Victorville Bicycle Accident on Fifth Street

VICTORVILLE, CA (December 7, 2021) – Monday, Ricardo Martinez Serrano, 15, died in a hit-and-run crash on Fifth Street, and Hector Castro Loaeza was arrested.

The fatal Victorville accident happened at 2:01 p.m. on Fifth Street near C Street.

According to reports, the 15-year-old boy riding a bike traveled west across C Street. Then, a southbound vehicle on Fifth Street hit the boy.

Afterward, responders took the bicyclist to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the teen bicyclist died at 3:19 p.m.

Deputies with the Victorville Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) handle the investigation.

After the crash, the 29-year-old driver, Hector Castro Loaeza of Victorville, fled the scene.

Then, officers found and arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence causing death, hit and run resulting in death, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Furthermore, the authorities booked Castro Loaeza at High Desert Detention Center.

During the investigation, the authorities shut down north and southbound Fifth Street and east and westbound C Street. The authorities continue to investigate the deadly hit and run. Also, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Deputy C. Bennington or Deputy M. Lee at the Victorville Police Station.
