Morning Crash on 101 Freeway in Westlake Village Kills Driver and Severely Injures Passenger
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA (September 29, 2019) – A female passenger was critically injured following a fatal crash Sunday morning in Westlake Village.
The crash happened just after 6:00 a.m. on the Lindero Canyon Road on-ramp to the southbound 101 Freeway.
According to the CHP, a 2018 Ford Mustang lost control and struck a metering light warning lamp and a tree. It then came to rest on the right shoulder of southbound 101 Freeway.
As a result, the driver died at the scene. He was only identified as a 44-year-old Agoura Hills man.
His passenger, 43-year-old Rehka Best, also an Agoura Hills resident, was taken to Los Robles Hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities issued a SigAlert for the onramp that remained in effect for about six hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
