Police Investigate Fatal Crash on 48th Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (December 15, 2023) – Thursday night, 44-year-old Ralph Shepard Jr. died in a hit-and-run crash on 48th Street.

Officials reported that a car made a left turn in front of 44-year-old Ralph Shepard Jr. as he was riding his motorcycle north on 48th Street near McDowell Road around 9 p.m.

Shepard struck the passenger side of the car and was subsequently hit by another car traveling north on 48th Street. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.

Phoenix police stated that the car responsible for the crash fled the scene and was last observed “driving east through an alley near Willetta Street with damage to the passenger side of the car.” The second car involved in the collision, which hit Shepard, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
