Pedestrian Severely Injured after Struck by Big Rig on 5 Freeway near 210 Freeway [SYLMAR, CA]

Man Hit by Big Rig on 5 Freeway in Sylmar, Major Injuries Sustained

 
SYLMAR, CA (May 18, 2019) – A pedestrian was severely injured after being struck by a big rig Saturday morning in Sylmar.
 
The crash happened around 5:50 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway, just West of 210 Freeway interchange.
 
According to an initial report, a male pedestrian jumped in front of the big rig. The victim was found lying down in lanes with severe head injuries.
 
Paramedics took the patient to a local hospital due to the extent of his injuries. He is currently in an unknown condition.
 
It is currently unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
 
While pedestrians have some responsibilities in trying to stay safe on the road, ultimately there is little they can do if a driver ends up approaching and hitting them.
