1 Dead After Being Struck by Train in Stockton
STOCKTON, CA (April 18, 2019) – A pedestrian died Wednesday morning after being struck by a freight train near Astor and Albany drives.
According to the Stockton Police Department, the man perished around 9:15 a.m. Police officers confirmed that the collision did not happen at a railroad crossing.
It appears the BNSF Railway train, traveling from Washington to Bakersfield, struck the man as he trespassed on Union Pacific rails. However, it’s unclear whether the pedestrian happened to be aware of the train.
The victim’s identity has yet to be released but authorities described him as a male in his 50s. A follow-up investigation is underway as officials determine the ultimate cause.
